16 months... oh my!

Yes Connor is 16 months can you believe it? I hardly can. I was reading my blog yesterday and I read about what he was like when he was 2 months, it was so nice to be reminded what a good baby he was, but it made me wish I had done a monthly update all along... oh well here we go hope I can keep this up!
Connor has turned into a wild crazy toddler, I swear it was overnight. He still has his sweet calm moments and it seems to be especially that way when we are in front of other kids his age. We started Gymboree last week! Connor sat quietly in my lap almost the whole time (towards the end that drum was just too tempting and he had to try it) there were 4 other kids (1 boy 3 girls) 2 of the girls were running around climbing all over the place kicking the drums being toddlers and here was Connor just looking up at me being so sweet and quiet... wait what that's not my child he loves anything that makes loud noises and can be banged together!! It will be interesting to see what this week is like. We are going to the open gym time this Thursday (tomorrow) as a family and then Friday mornings are our Mommy and me music times. It's been less than a week since my last blog and I feel like Connor has learned so many new things since then. He is really picking up on sign language (please, more, all done) and we are working on help (instead of whining) and he's learning new words every day. His little brain is a sponge, I feel like I should be teaching him everything so he will know it all when he gets older, but I definitely don't want to burn him out. I downloaded some children's music in English and Spanish (old macdonald is the funniest to listen to) just as an introduction. I know every parent says this but I really think Connor is pretty smart, he really picks up on stuff quick:) My Mom keeps telling us we need to start his college fund now because that boy is going to college. He's such a joy to be around I've been looking forward to the 18 month mark for a while now and I knew the time between would be hard at times, but I also really like this age, not that he'll be done with toddler two's any time soon but I always thought once they hit 18 months language would come in and really help with all the melt downs. I'm sure every mother gets the "he doesn't whine or cry when he's with me" which I love that he doesn't but I don't understand why he only does it with me. Gary watches him for two days while I work and he always says he never cries or whines once. Maybe he just knows how to work me....? Oh well, I guess that's why I have so much patients:)

Here's to blog post number 2!

I'm back!

Ok I realize it's been over a year since I last blogged but since I love reading other peoples so much I thought I would try and take it up again:) A lot has changed since my last post. We had just come home from Arizona and were planning for our wedding. In hindsight I am so happy we went to Arizona unfortuantly it was the last time I got to spend time with my Grandma. She died in November, I miss her every day, but I know she is in a place where she can breath well and is always watching down over us. My Grandma and I were always very close even though she lived far away we were soul mates both being Geminis we seemed to bond quickly. I hope Connor is lucky enough to have such a great fun and inventive Grandma as I did. We have gone to Arizona twice since her passing and I always miss that there isn't a little present under my pillow and it's sad and wierd going to her house. Connor and I are going to Arizona at the beginning of next month to celebrate my Uncle marrying his long time girlfriend Anita, she is such a wonderful person and I am so happy she is in our family. They got married last weeked and my dad the reverend married them in Jackson Hole Wyoming.
Gary and I celebrated our one year Anniversary at the end of August a few weeks ago. We got away just the two of us to Lincoln City and walked along Bella Beach where we got married. I am so thankful for Ed and Tracy Hannah and Hailey who watched Connor for us, I have the best inlaws ever and I know not a lot of people can say that. They are always so supportive of Gary and I and love the three of us so much. They are always fun to be around and if the kids weren't so busy with soccer school and other activities we would probably get together more often. Gary has always looked up to them, their marraige and family and I think it is what makes him such a great father and husband to Connor and me.
So Connor updates:) My favorite thing in the world to talk about. He is 16 months tomorrow. Crazy I know! He has been walking and starting to run for a while now about 3 months.... He was late on all of that but I was so happy about him being slow to move. He has figured out how to use a spoon by himself and is so proud when he does it. He says lots of words (mama, da, ball, dog, milk, juice, no, meme (his blanket), nose, grandma, nana (Hannah), hehe (Hailey), ba (banana), baby, and probably a few more just can't think of them) he is hillarious when he wants to be, but he has deffiantly turned into hurricane Connor as I call him, he loves to throw all his toys, sometimes he cleans them up just to throw them all back again. Our biggest thing we are working on is potty training. He loves his pull ups, he always fought me on diaper changes and it was such a pain, but now we just pull the pullups on and hes good and happy. He's doing pretty well, I will ask him where his potty is and he goes to find it and gets all excited when he does, sometimes he will sit for a little bit but usually he wants right off and goes for his animal crackers (he knows how to work the system). Just the other day I was thinking we had been doing this for a while with only one or two sucesses and they were in the beginning and sure enough he sat down pooped and peed!!! I was so excited and he seemed very proud too. It's the little successes I guess:) I love Connor very much and I love being a mom, it's a lot of work but it's all worth it at the end of the day. I am so lucky to have Gary as a husband too he really helps out a lot. He watches Connor on his two days off while I work, and I think it helps him appreciate the work that goes into being home.

Well that is all that is new with us thus far, I hope to be posting soon!
