May 16th 2009

Friday May 15th:

It was 4 o'clock in the morning on Gary's only day off that week because he was working every other day to make up for the days he would have to take off.  The pain sunk into my stomach and knocked the wind out of me, waking me out of my sleep.  Ten minutes later another on hit, the loudness of my pain woke Gary up and we started timing for the next two hours, consistently ten to fifteen minutes apart.  The plan was to be induced the next Tuesday if I didn't go on my own because for the last two weeks my doctor kept saying I would go early but I was now three days late and very much so wanting Connor out of me especially after Mother's Day passed without my baby!  After two hours of being woken up every ten minutes I called the hospital hoping it was time to go in.  Confused on if my water had broken or not because I didn't know exactly what to expect they told me to wait a couple of hours take a shower and then come in.  Around ten we checked into the hospital where they were very busy and seemed to pay no attention to me, they had delivered fifteen babies already that day and I was on low priority.  After five hours of sitting in that room and three tests that all confirmed I wasn't in labor we went to Gary's family's house to celebrate Hailey's birthday!  After a little nap:)  The girls all went to the mall where everyone kept approaching me and telling me to go to the hospital after this last trip to the mall annoyed that I wasn't in labor I just smiled and  said I wish!  Still having contractions every ten minutes and taking a deep breath in with each one to continue to have fun with Hailey and the girls.  At dinner Aunt Tina said this might be your last meal without a little one and she was right!  Gary had wanted to go to a movie that night and his family insisted he stayed home with me so about 9 we headed home (he wasn't to happy) we turned onto the street our apartments are on and bam it hit me hard.  I screamed ooowww and then said I don't know if I was trying to hold it in around your family but I think that one hurt really bad and I don't want to wait till Tuesday with this pain!  We got home and as I was climbing into bed (which was hard with that big belly) it hit me again and hard!  I thought oh no I'm not going to get any sleep tonight or for the next few nights if this keeps up.  Gary had to work the next morning and needed his sleep and was still a little pissy so asked if I could be in pain in the other room.  I only lasted half an hour before I called the hospital this time:)  I explained what had happened and she asked what kind of pain medication I wanted and I said "I want an epidural" and she said "come in NOW" so we rushed to the hospital and went right to the room we were in earlier that day.  It took about an hour of following contractions and some crazy lady who got my bloody show on the way and wanted to break my water then and there.  I told her I wanted to wait till I got the epidural to have her touch me again!  At 11 o'clock they moved us to the delivery room where I had the sweetest nurse:)  The time flew by with contraction after contraction and Gary right there holding my hand with each one (now happy he didn't go to the movie!).  At two o'clock the epidural finally arrived along with that lady who wanted to pop my water, I denied her again and let it break on it's on (naturally).  After the epidural they turned out the lights and let us sleep.  At four o'clock I woke up with a weird feeling that my water had broke so I woke Gary up and he stumbled around and found the nurse.  It hadn't broke but as she rolled me over I guess it did (hey I couldn't feel anything).  Then it was back to sleep.

Meanwhile the poor awaiting parents didn't get much sleep that night either after the 11 o'clock phone calls that we were headed to the hospital.  Tracy woke up at three with the news and tried to find us at the hospital but we were sleeping.  At seven when we woke up again we called everyone and spread the news that Connor was on his way.

Throughout the morning around nine Tracy, Ed, Hannah, Hailey my Mom and Dad came to the hospital and my friend Emily came too.  They were all kicked out about 10 when they check to see how dialated I was 10 cm!  They started to slow down the epidural and said we could start pushing as soon as I could move my legs.  My right leg was a lot easier to move than my left and it was fun to be able to move my foot around, finally at 11:15 the nurse said were going to try and push she sent everyone out of the room again, saying they should be back soon if nothing happened or not for a while.  The nurse showed Gary how to hold my legs and head and about 11:25 we started pushing, within the first couple of pushes she said "we need to get the doctor in here now this baby is coming" they flipped up a mirror so I could see his hairy head come out and get motivation to push harder each time.  It was pretty amazing to watch and 11:42 we had a little boy!!  They threw him right on me and cleaned him off all I could do was stare at him.  I was a little surprised at how big he was I thought he would be much smaller even with how huge I was!  After all the stitching up was done and everything was out the families came back in and got to meet Connor Jo Adams:)  I felt like a model (even though I definitely didn't look it) with everyone snapping pictures.  It was a joy to watch Gary pick him up and give him his first bath and diaper change.  8 pounds 2.5 ounces 21 inches no wonder he looked big:)  They then had him try to breast feed and he seemed to take right onto it.  After all the pictures and ooos and awws everyone left us for the night to be a family.  All we wanted to do was hold and look at him.

8 pounds 2.5 ounces
So cute!
I couldn't stop staring at him he was perfect:)
Happy family so in love!

We eventually moved to another room upstairs where we would be for the next 48 hours with room service and nurses to help move you and all that fun stuff, why anyone wants to leave day of I have no idea.

All in all it was a wonderful amazing experience and I am so happy to finally have my little boy that I can stare and look at all day:)
